Postdoc, Stockholm Resilience Centre
Juan's research questions are oriented to understanding emergent patterns, from critical transitions in ecological systems to collective action in society. He currently studies cascading effects of regime shifts, whether the occurrence of a regime shift in an particular ecosystem will change the likelihood of other regime shifts in far away ecosystems. He is also interested on developing methods for identification of resilience surrogates in poor data contexts, as well as scaling up methods for assessing resilience.
Key research Interests: complex systems, regime shifts, critical transitions, cascading effects, networks, behavioural economics, common pool resources, resilience surrogates
